The Koala Wolf

I tried my best to get my koala costume looking as sharp as possible. I even found a knockoff koala spirithood. I experimented with the Nerdy Koala to give it that extra something something, but it wasn't quite what I had envisioned...
The koala hood turned out pretty well after I had it altered, but it wasn't as awesome as my Spirithood, so I've decided that I'm going to be a Koala Wolf for Halloween. They're an endangered species, as I'm the only one.
It's one of the rules of life that the girls in Sephora will make you look like a movie star in the store, but at home you end up looking like a hooker with a black eye. In my case it was more of a wolf meets boxing bear, so fingers crossed I can do a better job this weekend. I'll keep ya posted!
Chloe's doing a bit better at accepting the Spirithood, but she gave me a pretty good "Oh shit" face after I put the hood and the makeup on...
Happy Halloween Everyone!

One Woman SpiritHood Wolfpack

As I mentioned before, I want to be a Koala for Halloween. My original idea was to use a SpiritHood as part of my costume. Unfortunately, SpiritHoods don't make Koala hoods yet. I'm still planning on being a Koala, but I have to rethink my costume. The lack of a Koala hood didn't stop me from joining the SpiritHood tribe. I wasn't sure which SpiritHood to get, so instead of ordering one online I went to the coolest hat shop on the Venice Boardwalk which carry them, and tried them all out. While I really, really want a Snow Leopard hood, I decided to get the Wolf.
I L  V E my Spirithood. All of their hoods are made of Faux Fur, and they're really soft. The longer hoods have little pockets, and paw prints on the inner lining. I thought a SpiritHood would make a nice addition to my upcoming fur protests, so I'm ready to rock and roll!
The only one who's not sure how she feels about my new SpiritHood is my cat Chloe. She's not quite sure if I'm going to eat her, or if I'm her long lost birth mother. It's awesome, she'll come around.

LF Stores Go Fur Free!

Thank you to everyone who took the time to write LF Stores and let them know that Fur is cruel! I received an email from LF Stores this evening informing me that all of the fur tails had been pulled from their stores. To be safe, I biked over to the LF Store on Montana Ave (The fur tails were spotted on LF Main St) to make sure that they had indeed pulled all of their fur. Before I disclosed to the girls at LF Montana that I was the ringmaster behind all of this hoopla, they told me that the fur tails were no longer there! Hurray! A job well done everyone! And Thank you LF Stores for cooperating and being a friend to the animals. I hope LF continues to offer compassionate, cruelty free clothing. We can all go back to shopping at LF Stores.

Now that this campaign is wrapped up, I'm moving all of my energy into my next campaign: getting Intermix to go Fur Free. With the success we've had today, you can see that we can indeed make a difference. Let's keep fighting the good fight and let Intermix know that FUR is CRUEL!

Inhumane Intermix

I got a tip from Girlie Girl Army that trendy LA and NYC boutique Intermix was selling FUR. After checking out their website, I am truly disgusted by the amount of cruelty they have in stock. Intermix has every type of slaughtered and skinned animal for sale: Fox fur, rabbit fur, raccoon fur, coyote fur - if it had a beautiful coat, Intermix went and killed it. I am angry and deeply saddened by what I saw, and something needs to be done...

Any shopping at Intermix is supporting this bloody industry. This isn't about being a vegetarian or a vegan, this is about stopping inhumane, senseless killing. You can try and ignore the horrible photos and videos that are a biproduct of the fur industry, but it won't go away unless we do something about it. This cruelty is still very much real because people still buy fur and continue to support companies who do. I urge everyone to NOT shop at Intermix until they adopt a Fur Free policy.
Not only is fur disgustingly cruel, but it is totally unnecessary when there are so many fabulous faux options. After our successful campaign against Planet Blue last year, they've made the effort to put compassion back in fashion. Planet Blue has some fabulously fierce FAUX fur fashions that are not only cruelty free, but a lot more stylish than these grandma coats Intermix has for sale.
This Intermix Fur Free campaign will be Fur Free Los Angeles's biggest target yet, but it can and will be done. With the amount of Fur Intermix has for sale, this campaign won't happen overnight. Before we organize a protest, we've got to be loud and have our voices heard. Contact them, and tell your friends to as well. Together we can make a difference!
