Keeping Up With KITSON's Killing. Yup. They're Still Selling Fur

I busted Kitson for selling real fur back in January. I reported my findings to the Humane Society because I discovered that Kitson was selling several items mislabeled as "faux fur" when they were actually made of real fur. Thanks to the Truth In Fur Labeling Act, that's against the law. Since the scandal broke, Kitson has pulled all of their fur items off of their website. If you do a search for "fur" "fox" "coyote" or "rabbit" on their website, your search will turn up with no results. After Kitson "apologized" for their murderous mislabeling spree I made the mistake of assuming their fur selling days were dunzo. Boy was I wrong...

Last night I walked into Kitson and guess what I saw? Ugh. Fur everywhere. Not only were they still selling, coyote, fox, and rabbit fur, but they were still selling the SAME Street Level purse they were busted for selling as faux. I checked the tag in the bag. It said "100% Polyurethane," which is what the faux leather material is made of, but there is no mention that this bag is indeed real fur. Canine fur to be exact...
Kitson was also selling a Mitchie's knit scarf / hat set with fox fur pom poms. One label said "100% Acrylic," but there was another poorly sewn label that said "Dyed Skin Fox Fur. Origin: Canada." I'm not sure who would actually buy this. The hat looks like you're wearing a floating dingleberry on your head, but the lack of compassion and taste at Kitson doesn't seem to be an issue for them.
Also for sale, Dolce Cabo's 4545 Rabbit Fur vest in Champagne, Black, and Cream/Coffee. Dolce Cabo's vests were in Kitson back in January, but these vest's are from their fall 2012 line. Each of these vests took about 30-40 rabbits to make. I'd also like to note that seeing as they were "Made In China," the rabbits suffered in the most unfathomable conditions before they had their throats slit. Rabbits are forced to wait in crates before they are killed in assembly line fashion and have their carcass hung to a steel hook. China has virtually no animal protection laws, so it's common practice to beat these animals to a pulp before they're slaughtered. Real fashionable, huh?
Just when I thought I'd seen it all I spotted Pvblic's Coyote Fur Trimmed Hoodie. Yup. You heard me right, a zip up hoodie with real coyote fur. The tag said that fur's origin was from the USA, but the hoodie itself was assembled in the Dominican Republic. The majority of all coyote fur is hunted and trapped. Coyotes can spend agonizing lengths of time pinned to leg hold traps. Most fur traps do not kill instantly, so these poor creatures have to wait days, even weeks pinned to the ground with severed flesh. The steel trap will break through bone, but hold on to just enough flesh to keep them pinned to the ground. The animals have to wait to die, either from starvation or pain, or from the repugnant hunter that comes along to collect his kill.
As I was inspecting the fur, I wondered, what kind of heartless bastard would not only buy this monstrosity of a coat, but think it's actually "cool." When I googled "Pvblic Fur Hoodie" it all made sense. Kourtney Kardashian was wearing this exact hoodie on TV! She seems like a lovely person, doesn't she? What a schmuck.
So, Kitson has really pissed me off. This is simply unacceptable. I believe a protest is in order. The question is, which location should we pick? It might be fun to do a double protest seeing as Kitson is right across the street from INTERMIX on Robertson Blvd. While I organize this campaign, I strongly urge you to contact Kitson, and let them know what you think of their cruel "fashion" choices.

The "Kitson: Please Stop Selling Fur" Petition and Facebook page are still active, so please sign the petition and pass it along to your friends.

Kitson, I implore you to do the right thing and adopt a fur free policy. If not, on behalf of the millions of animals slaughtered for their fur annually, I'm coming after you.

xoxo,

Amy
